Short answer: paste npx scorper@latest init into Codex, sign in with the code it emails you, say “connect my linkedin”, approve in your browser, then describe the post. Codex reads it back and publishes to LinkedIn when you say yes. LinkedIn is one of five platforms on the same connection, with Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X and YouTube all set up the same way.

How to connect LinkedIn to Codex

  1. 1

Paste the install line in Codex

OpenAI's Codex CLI runs in your terminal, so the install is the same one-line command as everywhere else. It adds the Scorper skills to Codex and links this machine to your account with a scoped key. There is nothing to configure in a JSON file and no API key to paste.

Type into the Codex chat, or into any terminal
    npx scorper@latest init

Needs Node 18 or newer. scorper doctor confirms the install afterwards.

  2. 2

Sign in with the code from your email

Codex asks for your email. A 6-digit code arrives, you type it into the chat. No account yet? One is created on the spot, no password. You pick a plan and its 7-day free trial starts at checkout.

  3. 3

    Say “connect my linkedin”

Codex opens LinkedIn's approval page in your browser. Log into the right LinkedIn account first, approve, come back. Codex confirms the connection.

  4. 4

    Tell it what to post

post this to linkedin, more formal than the instagram caption

Codex uploads the media, proposes a caption, then reads the whole post back. Say yes and it publishes to LinkedIn. Say “schedule it for 6pm tomorrow” instead and it queues it.

What you can publish to LinkedIn from Codex

Text posts, image posts, video posts and carousels to a connected LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn rewards a different voice from Instagram, and that is where posting from an AI pays off: one prompt, two captions. Say "post this to instagram and linkedin, more formal on linkedin" and your AI drafts a version for each, reads both back, and publishes both. Developers and founders often wire this to their release process: when a version ships, a prompt turns the changelog into a LinkedIn post and schedules it for the next working morning.

LinkedIn's own rules, which your AI works within

RuleLinkedIn
Post lengthUp to 3,000 characters. Only the first few lines show before "see more".
ImagesUp to 20 images per post on LinkedIn; JPEG or PNG.
VideoMP4, 3 seconds to 10 minutes, up to 5 GB.
DocumentsLinkedIn renders PDFs as swipeable carousels.
HashtagsNo hard cap; three to five is the usual practice.
ConnectionLinkedIn approvals last 60 days. Your AI tells you when a reconnect is due; it is one browser approval.

Prompts that work in Codex

connect my linkedin
post this to linkedin, more formal than the instagram caption
turn today's release notes into a linkedin post and schedule it for 9am tomorrow
schedule this carousel for 6pm tomorrow on linkedin and x

Scheduling: “schedule this for 9am monday on linkedin”. The calendar: “what's going out this week?”. Moving things: “move friday's post to saturday”. Everything you schedule from Codex also shows in the dashboard calendar.

Something only Codex users should know

Codex and Claude Code share one Scorper account on the same machine: the install links the machine, not the agent. If you already set up Claude Code, run the same command from Codex to add the Codex-side skills; the existing account link is reused.

What happens before anything posts

The read-back, every time
⏺ Posting to LinkedIn your profile

Your machine holds a scoped key. LinkedIn's own credentials stay on Scorper's side, and Codex never sees a platform token.

Honest limits

  • LinkedIn publishing goes through the official LinkedIn API, so LinkedIn's rules above apply. Scorper does not work around them.
  • The AI-agent connection is on every plan. Pro posts to Instagram only. Max ($25 a month), Studio and Agency post to every social.
  • The install needs Node 18 or newer on the machine.
  • Some things are easier in the dashboard than in chat: bulk-editing a month of scheduled posts, for example. Both views share one calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Can Codex post to LinkedIn on its own?
Not without a connection. Codex can write a caption but has no permission to publish. Scorper is that permission: one command installs the posting skills and links your machine to your account, then Codex can publish and schedule to LinkedIn through the official API.
Can the AI post to a LinkedIn company page?
The connection is made to the LinkedIn account you approve in the browser. If you need company-page publishing, check the connected-accounts list after approval (say "what's connected?") before relying on it.
Will the LinkedIn caption be the same as the Instagram one?
Only if you want it to be. Ask for a different tone per platform and your AI writes a separate caption for LinkedIn. Both are read back before anything posts.
I already set Scorper up in Claude Code. Do I need to do it again for Codex?
Run npx scorper@latest init once more from Codex to install the Codex-side skills. The account link belongs to the machine, so both agents post through the same connected accounts.
Will it post without asking me?
No. Codex reads the exact post back (platform, media, caption) and publishes only after you confirm. Scheduled posts are shown before they are queued.
What does posting to LinkedIn from Codex cost?
The AI-agent connection is included in Scorper Max ($25 a month, one brand, all five platforms) and Studio ($55 a month, three brands). Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, card needed to start.
