Short answer: paste npx scorper@latest init into Codex, sign in with the code it emails you, say “connect my x”, approve in your browser, then describe the post. Codex reads it back and publishes to X when you say yes. X is one of five platforms on the same connection, with Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X and YouTube all set up the same way.

How to connect X to Codex

  1. 1

Paste the install line in Codex

OpenAI's Codex CLI runs in your terminal, so the install is the same one-line command as everywhere else. It adds the Scorper skills to Codex and links this machine to your account with a scoped key. There is nothing to configure in a JSON file and no API key to paste.

Type into the Codex chat, or into any terminal
    npx scorper@latest init

Needs Node 18 or newer. scorper doctor confirms the install afterwards.

  2. 2

Sign in with the code from your email

Codex asks for your email. A 6-digit code arrives, you type it into the chat. No account yet? One is created on the spot, no password. You pick a plan and its 7-day free trial starts at checkout.

  3. 3

    Say “connect my x”

Codex opens X's approval page in your browser. Log into the right X account first, approve, come back. Codex confirms the connection.

  4. 4

    Tell it what to post

post this on x: shipping v2 today. thread the changelog underneath

Codex uploads the media, proposes a caption, then reads the whole post back. Say yes and it publishes to X. Say “schedule it for 6pm tomorrow” instead and it queues it.

What you can publish to X from Codex

Text posts, image posts and video posts to a connected X (Twitter) account.

X is the platform developers already post to from the terminal, which makes it the natural first connection for a build-in-public workflow. A prompt like "when I say a release shipped, post a one-liner to x and a longer version to linkedin" turns your AI into the posting step of your release process. X's 280-character limit is enforced on the standard tier, so your AI trims or threads accordingly and reads the result back before posting.

X's own rules, which your AI works within

RuleX
Length280 characters on standard accounts; longer posts need X Premium.
ImagesUp to 4 images per post; JPEG, PNG, GIF; up to 5 MB each.
VideoMP4, up to 2 minutes 20 seconds on standard accounts, up to 512 MB.
LinksEvery link counts as 23 characters regardless of length.

Prompts that work in Codex

connect my x
post this on x: shipping v2 today. thread the changelog underneath
schedule this carousel for 6pm tomorrow on linkedin and x
every time I tell you a release shipped, post a one-liner to x

Scheduling: “schedule this for 9am monday on x”. The calendar: “what's going out this week?”. Moving things: “move friday's post to saturday”. Everything you schedule from Codex also shows in the dashboard calendar.

Something only Codex users should know

Codex and Claude Code share one Scorper account on the same machine: the install links the machine, not the agent. If you already set up Claude Code, run the same command from Codex to add the Codex-side skills; the existing account link is reused.

Your machine holds a scoped key. X's own credentials stay on Scorper's side, and Codex never sees a platform token.

Honest limits

  • X publishing goes through the official X API, so X's rules above apply. Scorper does not work around them.
  • The AI-agent connection is on every plan. Pro posts to Instagram only. Max ($25 a month), Studio and Agency post to every social.
  • The install needs Node 18 or newer on the machine.
  • Some things are easier in the dashboard than in chat: bulk-editing a month of scheduled posts, for example. Both views share one calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Can Codex post to X on its own?
Not without a connection. Codex can write a caption but has no permission to publish. Scorper is that permission: one command installs the posting skills and links your machine to your account, then Codex can publish and schedule to X through the official API.
Can the AI post a thread on X?
Ask for one: "post this as a thread". Your AI splits the text into 280-character posts, shows you the sequence, and publishes it after you confirm.
Does this need X Premium or a paid X API plan?
No. You connect your own X account through the approval page; Scorper handles the API on its side. Longer-than-280-character posts do need X Premium on the account itself.
I already set Scorper up in Claude Code. Do I need to do it again for Codex?
Run npx scorper@latest init once more from Codex to install the Codex-side skills. The account link belongs to the machine, so both agents post through the same connected accounts.
Will it post without asking me?
No. Codex reads the exact post back (platform, media, caption) and publishes only after you confirm. Scheduled posts are shown before they are queued.
What does posting to X from Codex cost?
The AI-agent connection is included in Scorper Max ($25 a month, one brand, all five platforms) and Studio ($55 a month, three brands). Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, card needed to start.
