Post to TikTok from Codex

Short answer: paste npx scorper@latest init into Codex, sign in with the code it emails you, say “connect my tiktok”, approve in your browser, then describe the post. Codex reads it back and publishes to TikTok when you say yes. TikTok is one of five platforms on the same connection, with Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X and YouTube all set up the same way.

How to connect TikTok to Codex

  1. 1

Paste the install line in Codex

OpenAI's Codex CLI runs in your terminal, so the install is the same one-line command as everywhere else. It adds the Scorper skills to Codex and links this machine to your account with a scoped key. There is nothing to configure in a JSON file and no API key to paste.

Type into the Codex chat, or into any terminal
    npx scorper@latest init

Needs Node 18 or newer. scorper doctor confirms the install afterwards.

  2. 2

Sign in with the code from your email

Codex asks for your email. A 6-digit code arrives, you type it into the chat. No account yet? One is created on the spot, no password. You pick a plan and its 7-day free trial starts at checkout.

  3. 3

    Say “connect my tiktok”

Codex opens TikTok's approval page in your browser. Log into the right TikTok account first, approve, come back. Codex confirms the connection.

  4. 4

    Tell it what to post

post the video on my desktop called diethacks.mp4 to instagram and tiktok

Codex uploads the media, proposes a caption, then reads the whole post back. Say yes and it publishes to TikTok. Say “schedule it for 6pm tomorrow” instead and it queues it.

What you can publish to TikTok from Codex

Video posts and photo carousels to a connected TikTok account.

TikTok requires the person posting to choose a privacy level, whether comments, Duet and Stitch are allowed, and to confirm TikTok's consent text for every post, so your AI asks you those questions before it publishes; it cannot fill them in for you. Most people connect TikTok alongside Instagram and post the same vertical video to both in one prompt. Say "post diethacks.mp4 to instagram and tiktok" and your AI uploads the file once, writes a caption for each (TikTok captions can be much longer and hashtags matter more there), reads both back and publishes. Scheduling works the same way as any other platform.

TikTok's own rules, which your AI works within

RuleTikTok
VideoMP4 or MOV, vertical 9:16 works best, up to 10 minutes from most accounts.
CaptionUp to 4,000 characters including hashtags.
Photo postsUp to 35 images per photo carousel.
VisibilityThe post's privacy level is set at publish time (public, friends, private).

Prompts that work in Codex

connect my tiktok
post the video on my desktop called diethacks.mp4 to instagram and tiktok
schedule the clip in ./clips/day3.mp4 for 6pm on tiktok with three hashtags

Scheduling: “schedule this for 9am monday on tiktok”. The calendar: “what's going out this week?”. Moving things: “move friday's post to saturday”. Everything you schedule from Codex also shows in the dashboard calendar.

Something only Codex users should know

Codex and Claude Code share one Scorper account on the same machine: the install links the machine, not the agent. If you already set up Claude Code, run the same command from Codex to add the Codex-side skills; the existing account link is reused.

What happens before anything posts

The read-back, every time
⏺ Posting to TikTok @yourbrand
Caption: "Three things I wish someone told me at 21…"
   Confirm?

Your machine holds a scoped key. TikTok's own credentials stay on Scorper's side, and Codex never sees a platform token.

Honest limits

  • TikTok publishing goes through the official TikTok API, so TikTok's rules above apply. Scorper does not work around them.
  • The AI-agent connection is on every plan. Pro posts to Instagram only. Max ($25 a month), Studio and Agency post to every social.
  • The install needs Node 18 or newer on the machine.
  • Some things are easier in the dashboard than in chat: bulk-editing a month of scheduled posts, for example. Both views share one calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Can Codex post to TikTok on its own?
Not without a connection. Codex can write a caption but has no permission to publish. Scorper is that permission: one command installs the posting skills and links your machine to your account, then Codex can publish and schedule to TikTok through the official API.
Does TikTok posting need a business account?
No. TikTok's publishing works with personal and business accounts. You approve the connection once in your browser.
Can I post the same video to TikTok and Instagram at once?
Yes. Name both platforms in one prompt. The file uploads once and each platform gets its own caption.
I already set Scorper up in Claude Code. Do I need to do it again for Codex?
Run npx scorper@latest init once more from Codex to install the Codex-side skills. The account link belongs to the machine, so both agents post through the same connected accounts.
Will it post without asking me?
No. Codex reads the exact post back (platform, media, caption) and publishes only after you confirm. Scheduled posts are shown before they are queued.
What does posting to TikTok from Codex cost?
The AI-agent connection is included in Scorper Max ($25 a month, one brand, all five platforms) and Studio ($55 a month, three brands). Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, card needed to start.
